Veneers
Veneers
At Sedation Dental Spa of South Florida, composite and porcelain are two popular options for veneers. Both can be made to match the exact shape and size of your existing teeth for a seamless look that’s discreet and natural-looking. Veneers are secured to the front surface of teeth with a bonding material and can cover a wide range of dental flaws.
Composite veneers require less tooth preparation than porcelain veneers. They are also more affordable than porcelain veneers.
On the other hand, porcelain veneers are considered the more durable option because they resist cracks and stains better than resin and have a more lifelike appearance that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. Porcelain is also more resistant to chipping and breaking over time.
What Is the Procedure for Getting Veneers?
Getting veneers usually requires two trips to the dentist, one for a consultation and to prepare your teeth and a second one to apply the veneers.
To prepare your teeth for veneers, the dentist will lightly buff them to allow for the thickness of the veneer and create a rough surface for the veneer to bond to. A mold of the teeth will then be taken and sent to the lab where the veneers will be fabricated. The dentist can place temporary veneers on your teeth until the permanent veneers return from the lab.
On your second visit, the dentist will apply the veneers on the teeth to check their fit and color. To apply the veneers permanently, the teeth will be cleaned with specific chemicals to achieve a bond. Once this is done, a special light will harden and set the bond.
You will receive care instructions at the end of your appointment. Brushing, flossing, and regular dental appointments will help your veneers last longer.
The Advantages of Veneers
The main reason patients get veneers is to improve their smile’s aesthetic appearance. Veneers provide a straight, even, white smile by making minor improvements to crooked or misaligned teeth, covering chips and cracks, and improving the overall shape and size of the teeth.
The most significant advantage of porcelain veneers is that they are very natural looking and will blend in perfectly with the rest of your smile.
Veneers are also very durable. Although they are not as strong as your natural teeth, they can withstand normal wear and tear and are stain-resistant. Most patients find that their veneers can last at least ten years or longer!
Veneers can be a good option for patients who are unhappy with the length, shape, size, or color of their teeth.
