Teeth Cleanings & Exams — Without the Dread
Routine checkups, professional cleanings, digital X-rays and fillings for adults and teens at both of our offices. If cleanings make you tense, nitrous oxide, oral or IV sedation is available — even for a routine visit.

Preventive Care
Why Regular Cleanings Matter
Even with good brushing and flossing, plaque hardens into tartar that a toothbrush cannot remove. A professional cleaning clears it from above and just below the gum line, where it causes gum inflammation, bad breath and, over time, bone loss around the teeth.
Your exam is where small problems get caught while they are still small. A cavity found early is a simple filling; the same cavity found a year later can need a root canal and a crown. That is why most patients are seen every six months.
Many of our patients had not had a cleaning in years when they first came in. If that is you, there is no lecture — just a plan to get you healthy again, at a pace that feels comfortable, with sedation if you want it.

Professional cleanings
Our hygienists remove plaque and tartar, polish away surface stains and check your gums.

Dr. Gorman checks every tooth, your gums, bite and existing dental work, and screens the soft tissues of your mouth.
Digital X-rays
Low-dose digital images reveal decay between teeth and under old fillings that an exam alone can miss.
Fillings
Cavities repaired before they grow into bigger, costlier problems — numbed comfortably, sedation available.
Gum health
If your gums bleed or have pulled back, Dr. Gorman explains what is happening and the treatment options.
Sedation for routine visits

Questions & Answers
Cleanings & Exams FAQ
How often should I get a dental cleaning?
Most adults should have a cleaning and exam every six months. If you have gum disease or a history of heavy tartar, Dr. Gorman may recommend more frequent visits.
Can I be sedated for a teeth cleaning?
Yes. Sedation is available for any procedure at both offices, including routine cleanings and exams. Nitrous oxide wears off in minutes; after oral or IV sedation you will need someone to drive you home.
Does insurance cover cleanings?
Most dental plans cover two cleanings and exams a year, often at little or no cost to you. We accept most major plans — see financing & insurance.
It has been years since my last cleaning. Is that a problem?
Not for us. Many of our patients come in after a long gap. Your first visit focuses on understanding where things stand; any deeper cleaning or treatment is explained and planned with you.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, at both offices. Call Miramar at (954) 433-4300 or Lighthouse Point at (954) 946-8484.
